MDS 2022 | Elucidating prognostic biomarkers in Parkinson’s disease

Jaslovleen Kaur, MBBS, National Neuroscience Institute, Singapore & Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana, India, provides an overview of biomarkers for prognosis and disease monitoring in Parkinson’s disease (PD). Current blood biomarkers focusing on motor symptoms include alpha-synuclein and ones found in cerebrospinal fluid. However, such biomarkers may be difficult to assess in developing countries, where medical infrastructure is less robust. Finding novel biomarkers such as apolipoprotein is consequently beneficial in biomarker research. This interview took place at the 2022 International Congress of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders in Madrid, Spain.
