MDS 2021 | The Movement Disorder Societies task force on palliative care

Victor McConvey, RN, MACN, Parkinson’s Victoria, Victoria, Australia, talks on the work of the International Movement Disorder Societies Task force on Palliative care. The task force, chaired by Mr McConvey, was established to develop evidence-based guidelines and palliative care models, identify areas of unmet need, develop educational materials for health care practitioners working in palliative care, and increase awareness of palliative care amongst neurology professionals. Mr McConvey highlights the findings of a recent project looking at barriers and attitudes towards palliative care among movement disorder clinicians, which revealed perceived knowledge of palliative care physicians specific to movement disorders and workforce availability as significant barriers. This interview took place during the 2021 International Congress of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders.
