Victor Rivera, MD, FAAN, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX, gives an overview of a study looking at research priorities in multiple sclerosis (MS) in Latin America. Data extracted from a registry was used to identify research priorities. Results showed that education and annual income were significantly different compared to Caucasians, indicating that social disparity is a true barrier to medical care. Another finding was that the Latin American population is not well represented in international clinical trials. Efforts are underway to advocate for greater Latino participation in clinical trials. This interview took place at the ACTRIMS Forum 2022 in West Palm Beach, Florida.
