AAN 2022 | The effect of pregnancy hormones on the symptom severity of multiple sclerosis

Mirla Avila, MD, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Lubbock, TX, discusses the role of hormones for female patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). Female patients often experience a reduction in symptom severity during pregnancy, and Dr Avila explains some of the possible reasons behind this, as well as discussing how symptoms can increase in severity during and after menopause. Dr Avila compares possible delivery methods for the drug and discusses the future directions for this line of research.
