EAN 2021 | Precision medicine for treating stroke

Precision medicine has been used as a form of treatment for cancer. Through mice clinical trials, it has been established that precision medicine could be applied to patients with stroke. Ana Catarina Fonseca, MD, PhD, University of Lisbon, Lisbon, Portugal, explains how the progression of genomics has enabled researchers to adopt a different approach, tailoring treatment specifically to each individual, rather than generally. With various forms of stroke, it’s important that prognosis and treatment can be enhanced to better accommodate the different types of strokes. This interview took place during the European Academy of Neurology 2021 congress.
