CONy 2020 | Debating controversies in ALS

Ettore Beghi, MD, IRCCS – Institute Mario Negri, Milan, Italy, discusses the amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) talks at CONy 2020. The first talk will debate whether ALS is of neurodegenerative or neuromuscular origin. Dr Beghi discusses that he is personally in favor of ALS being a neurodegenerative disorder. The second debate discusses whether animal models are still useful to predict effective drugs. In the last talk, the origins of the ALS-Parkinson’s-Dementia complex will be debated. In which Dr Behi finds a particularly interesting topic, as understanding the disease will shed light on the disorders individually. This interview took place during the Virtual World Congress on Controversies in Neurology (CONy) 2020.
