The Aligning Science Across Parkinson’s (ASAP) Collaborative Research Network is a global research initiative aiming to improve understanding of Parkinson’s disease (PD) pathology through collaborative research. The ASAP network has funded 21 large-scale projects across the world that are investigating key knowledge gaps in PD. Christina Toomey, PhD, UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology, London, UK, discusses a project she is involved in as part of the collaboration, looking at oligomer-driven functional genomics. The study will use transcriptomic and genomic approaches to determine the molecular and cellular processes that lead to PD.
