Giancarlo Comi, MD, Vita-Salute San Raffaele University, Milan, Italy, discusses what a multiple sclerosis (MS) diagnosis means for patients today and how this needs to change in the future. While a multitude of efficacious options for the treatment of relapsing-remitting MS has led to a positive outlook for most patients, the same cannot be said in the case of progressive disease. Effective therapies are lacking, and more research is needed to understand and combat the neurodegenerative aspects of MS. This interview took place during the European Academy of Neurology 2021 congress.
