MDS 2020 | Quadripulse stimulation for epilepsy, depression and Parkinson’s disease

Yoshikazu Ugawa, MD, Fukushima Medical University, Fukushima, Japan, describes deep brain stimulation (DBS), particularly quadripulse stimulation (QPS), a newly developed stimulation method to treat epilepsy, depression and Parkinson’s disease. For epilepsy, QPS has shown little benefit, but for depression, it has been a successful treatment. In regards to Parkinson’s disease, the current study cannot draw statistical significance due to the small sample size of 30 patients. This is because of a lack of funding the research has received. This interview was recorded during an online conference call with The Video Journal of Neurology (VJNeurology).
