MDS 2020 | The role of inflammation in Parkinson’s disease and an avenue for potential treatment

Malú Tansey, PhD, University of Florida, Gainesville, FL, discusses how the immune system and inflammation could potentially have a role in the pathogenesis of Parkinson’s disease in particular patients. If true, this could help detect the disease earlier and aim treatments towards the root cause. Therefore, anti-inflammatory drugs could show potential. However, there are challenges such as immunocompromising elderly patients, which would need to be avoided. This interview was recorded during an online conference call with The Video Journal of Neurology (VJNeurology).
