HDSA 2022 | Driving progress in Huntington’s disease clinical research: patient education and engagement

Huntington’s disease (HD) is a hereditary neurodegenerative disease, causing uncontrollable movements, mood alterations, and progressive loss of thinking and reasoning skills. While there are options available to manage the major symptoms of disease, no disease modifying therapies currently exist. Arik Johnson, PsyD, Huntington’s Disease Society of America, comments on the importance of promoting research and patient engagement to drive progress in HD. Educating patients on their disease, what they can do to support themselves, and how they can get involved in clinical research is a major goal of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA). This interview was recorded during an online conference call with The Video Journal of Neurology (VJNeurology).
