CONy 2022 | Increasing mobility in patients with Parkinson’s disease during COVID-19

Angelo Antonini, MD, PhD, University of Padua, Padua, Italy, comments on the impact of social and mobility restrictions during COVID-19 lockdowns in patients with Parkinson’s disease. Initial studies assessing hydrotherapy in rehabilitating patients with Parkinson’s disease were delayed as a result of the pandemic and due to the lockdown, activities to increase movement in patients were suggested. However, more falls and cases of posture instability were reported and walking skills were diminished, demonstrating the importance of keeping patients mobile. This interview was conducted during the 2022 World Congress on Controversies in Neurology (CONy) meeting.
