MDS 2022 | Precision medicine: a paradigm shift in the treatment of movement disorders

Kailash Bhatia, MBBS, FRCP, FAAN, UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology, London, UK, outlines the benefits of precision medicine in the management of movement disorders. Nowadays, clinicians work with genetic frameworks when diagnosing patients and focus on general treatment methods like deep brain stimulation or pharmacotherapy. In the future, the emergence of genetic/biomarker-based diagnosis will lead to the development of precise treatments for a specific genetic condition. This interview took place at the 2022 International Congress of Parkinson’s disease and Movement Disorders in Madrid, Spain.
