ACTRIMS 2022 | Socio-scientific issues facing MS treatment in Latin America

Victor Rivera, MD, FAAN, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX, talks on socio-scientific issues regarding the treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS) in Latin America. Prof. Rivera states that one of the greatest tasks physicians and researchers face in treating patients with MS is the lack of adherence to therapy. This is most likely a result of poor education and a lack of information provided when compared to the access of large societies and support groups dedicated to MS in Europe and the USA. One of the main goals of the Latin American committee regarding MS has been to work with other countries in developing social support groups and associations that study MS – to provide better information and education on different aspects and management of the disease. This interview took place at the ACTRIMS Forum 2022 in West Palm Beach, Florida.
