CMSC 2022 | Achieving patient centered care in daily practice

Mitzi Joi Williams, MD, Joi Life Wellness Group, Smyrna, GA, explains that patient-centered care can be achieved in daily practice to treat multiple sclerosis (MS), but still recognizes the time constraints that clinicians face. Therefore, Dr Williams suggests practical ways to achieve shared decision making. Patients should be encouraged to do some research themselves to facilitate this process, such as considering treatment options and personal goals before meeting with the clinician. The main benefit of these visits would be to align what the clinicians are trying to achieve in the treatment process to the goals of the patients. This interview took place at the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers (CMSC) congress 2022 in Maryland.
