AD/PD 2021 | Research is urgently needed to fill key knowledge gaps in dementia

Costantino Iadecola, MD, Cornell University, New York, NY, shares his thoughts on the major dementia research focuses that are needed in the coming years. He notes the importance of improving understanding of the fundamental mechanisms of disease to allow successful bench to bedside translation. An investigation into the numerous pathological processes implicated in dementia is necessary for developing disease biomarkers and novel therapeutic approaches. Dr Iadecola says that the translation of information from clinical trials to the community is also a major hurdle that must be addressed. This interview took place during the AD/PD™ 2021 conference.
