AAN 2022 | The power of technology in the sleep field

Michelle Jonelis, MD, Redwood Pulmonary Medical Associates, Redwood City, CA, gives an overview of the latest development in technology in the sleep space and how to integrate them into clinical practice. One of the benefits of sleep tech is that it allows for monitoring sleep on a population level which has led to curious findings such as the influence of moon phases on the sleep cycle of people who live in urban settings. However, sleep tracking can feed into insomnia at an individual level as people get too fixated on their sleep. Nevertheless, sleep technology provides excellent benefits in assessing and assisting sleep patients, including better diagnostics for sleep apnea and movement disorders during sleep. This interview took place at the American Academy of Neurology 2022 Congress in Seattle, WA.
