IHC 2021 | Children and adolescent headache: hormones, emergency care & guidelines

Aynur Özge, MD, PhD, Mersin University School of Medicine, Mersin, Turkey, reviews the topics discussed during the teaching course on pediatric and adolescent headache at the International Headache Congress 2021. The session started with a talk on the impact of hormones in adolescence and how they change the brain—followed by a lecture on emergency care in children with headaches, which included a 5-step model for caring for children and adolescents in the ER setting. Finally, pediatric and adolescent headache guidelines were discussed. This interview took place during the International Headache Congress 2021.
