AHS 2022 | The MiCOAS project in migraine

Richard Lipton, MD, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, NY, discusses the Migraine Clinical Outcome Assessment System (MiCOAS) project. The FDA-funded project was initiated to support the development of publicly available core sets of Clinical Outcome Assessments (COAs) and their related endpoints for specific diseases using patient input. Many insights stemmed from the MiCOAS qualitative work, including how people care about cognitive dysfunction and that individuals perform ‘cocooning’ behaviors during a migraine attack. This has led to the future development of PROMs, which will help measure ‘cocooning’ behavior. This interview took place during the 2022 American Headache Society (AHS) Annual Scientific Meeting in Denver, CO.
