ACTRIMS 2022 | Utilizing tDCS to improving hand dexterity in patients with MS

Leigh Charvet, PhD, New York University Grossman School of Medicine, New York, NY, evaluates data from a study assessing transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), a form of non-invasive brain stimulation, in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). The primary motor cortex of patients were stimulated with either active or sham tDCS accompanied with hand exercised and brain stimulation in that particular area resulted in improved hand dexterity. Dr Charvet additionally highlights the recruitment of patients with progressive MS, which demonstrates the possibility of telerehabilitation in these patients. This interview took place at the ACTRIMS Forum 2022 in West Palm Beach, Florida.
