AAN 2021 | New perspectives on focused ultrasound in neurological disorders

José Obeso, MD, PhD, University Hospital HM Puerta del Sur, Madrid, Spain, shares his view on the use of focused ultrasound (FUS) in other neurological disorders. Prof. Obeso believes that FUS can be used to treat various movement disorders, not only Parkinson’s disease and potentially some neuropsychiatric disorders. Similar techniques are being developed aiming at the focal opening of the blood-brain barrier and for neuromodulation. These applications enable further studies of the human brain and the possibility to test and develop new therapies. This interview took place during the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) 2021 Annual Meeting.
