MDS 2022 | Barriers to patients with PD exercising as a form of disease management

Julie Jones, MCSP, MSc, PgCert TLT, BSc (Hons), SFHEA, Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, UK, provides an overview to challenges in prescribing exercise to patients with Parkinson’s disease. Non-motor symptoms such as fatigue as well as apathy and a lack of motivation may impede patients from exercising. Access to neurologists and physiotherapists may additionally be an issue and even with access, short-term follow-ups may reduce the efficacy of exercise. This interview took place at the 2022 International Congress of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders in Madrid, Spain.
