ACTRIMS 2023 | Research on the visual system and MS

Visual impairment is a key manifestation of multiple sclerosis (MS). Gustavo Della Flora Nunes, PhD, University of Colorado, Denver, CO, discusses how research focusing on the role of vision and vision-related outcome measures in MS can help further our understanding of disease mechanisms. The visual system, which is part of the central nervous system, is very well described and presents a unique opportunity to study demyelination and remyelination. A deeper understanding of the visual pathway changes observed in MS can provide insights into the pathophysiological mechanisms of the disease. This interview took place at the Americas Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ACTRIMS) Forum 2023 in San Diego, CA.
