EEC 2022 | Intrinsic and extrinsic factors affecting seizure propensity

Andreas Schulze-Bonhage, PhD, University Medical Center Freiburg, Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, discusses using smartphone-based app assessment of patients to gather data, for instance relating to mood, sleep quality, medication adherence, and menstrual cycles, in order to predict seizure propensity. Prof. Schulze-Bonhage also discusses how it is insufficient to rely solely on patient reports of seizure activity and comments on the need to integrate additional, multi-modal data in order to objectively assess cycles of seizure propensity. This interview took place at the 14th European Epilepsy Congress (EEC) 2022 in Geneva, Switzerland.
