William Curt LaFrance Jr, MD, MPH, FAAN, FANPA, DFAPA, Brown University, Providence, RI, comments on different strategies to provoke seizures in patients with epilepsy and the potential ethical implications. Photostimulation and hyperventilation are two methods to activate seizures and there are various additional provocation techniques such as infusion of placebo solutions, the application of moist swabs, verbal suggestions to the patient, tuning forks and flashlights. This interview was conducted during the 2022 World Congress on Controversies in Neurology (CONy) meeting.
