In 2021, the Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology (SVIN) Mission Thrombectomy 2020+ Initiative (MT2020+) announced the first annual World Stroke Thrombectomy Day on May 15. Dileep Yavagal, MD, University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine, Miami, FL, explains how by designating this official day, MT2020+ plans to raise public awareness about thrombectomy surgery for the treatment of severe stroke and instill new global calls to action. This year, MT2020+ launched a worldwide campaign that includes a dance challenge to raise awareness of stroke symptoms and the importance of seeking immediate care. This interview took place at the American Academy of Neurology 2022 Congress in Seattle, WA.
