IHC 2021 | Understanding the migraine postdrome

Nazia Karsan, MRCP, PhD, King’s College London, London, UK, discusses a study exploring the non-painful symptoms in migraine following headache resolution. Spontaneous and nitroglycerin-triggered attack phenotypes and experimental and clinical cohort phenotypes were evaluated. In the experimental group, there was good agreement between spontaneous and triggered postdrome. When patients were asked about non-painful symptoms before, during, or after headache, there seemed to be similarities in what was reported. Therefore, suggesting symptoms are not phases but a continuum throughout the migraine attack. This interview took place during the International Headache Congress 2021.
