MDS 2020 | Cognitive impairment in Parkinson’s disease & white matter hyperintensities

Parkinson’s disease patients can develop multidomain cognitive impairments. Kathleen Poston, MD, PhD, Stanford University Medical Center, Stanford, CA, discusses the study investigating the contribution of vascular copathology severity and location, measured by MRI white matter hyperintensities, to domain‐specific cognitive impairment in Parkinson’s disease. Dr Poston reveals that the next important step is to investigate the cause of the white matter hyperintensities. This interview was recorded during an online conference call with The Video Journal of Neurology (VJNeurology).
