Michael Heneka, MD, University of Bonn, Bonn, Germany, discusses the use of animal models in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) research. There is the need to improve our current animal models to display risk factors of AD, such as obesity, diabetes and alcohol intake. There is also the need for further research in human-derived cell lines and in targets for PET ligands. This interview took place during the Virtual World Congress on Controversies in Neurology (CONy) 2020.
