Gisela Terwindt, MD, PhD, Leiden University, Leiden, Netherlands, talks on proteomics and metabolomics in the migraine space. Biomarkers for migraine diagnosis might not be of utter importance in clinical practice since diagnostic classification systems exist. However, biomarkers are important and beneficial to study disease progression. Prof. Terwindt also discusses the use of proteomics and metabolomics to predict treatment response. Additionally, biomarkers can be helpful to identify new pathophysiological mechanisms and therefore boost the development of new treatment strategies. This interview took place during the International Headache Congress 2021.
