CONy 2020 | The effects of withdrawing medication in PCDH19-related epilepsy

Antonio Gil-Nagel, MD, PhD, Hospital Ruber Internacional, Madrid, Spain, discusses the effects of medication withdrawal in PCDH19-related epilepsy. In patients in which their parents chose to withdraw from medication, there was a high rate of seizure recurrence. Additionally, for some patients, after withdrawing from medication it was hard to regain seizure control. Therefore, it may be a better option to decrease the dose of anti-seizure medication rather than withdrawing. This interview took place during the Virtual World Congress on Controversies in Neurology (CONy) 2020.
