AAN 2021 | Benefits and challenges of telemedicine for PD

Esther Cubo, MD, PhD, Hospital General Yague, Burgos, Spain, comments on the benefits and challenges of implementing telemedicine for Parkinson’s disease (PD) medical care. This modality of medical care can be beneficial for PD patients. The convenience of not having to travel to the medical facility is the most evident benefit of telemedicine. However, some aspects such as the patients’ lack of skills to use technology, internet access, and implementation costs are some challenges in telemedicine implementation. This interview took place during the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) 2021 Annual Meeting.
