AAIC 2020 | The link between infections and Alzheimer’s disease

Janet Janbeck, MSc, Danish Dementia Research Centre, Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen, Denmark, discusses the link between infections and dementia, particularly Alzheimer’s disease, on a population level. Further, Ms Janbeck explains how individuals with Alzheimer’s disease have a higher risk of dying if they have infections such as pneumonia and sepsis. She concludes that more research should be done assessing other infections such as skin infections and long-term mortality following infection. This interview was recorded during an online conference call with The Video Journal of Dementia (VJDementia).
