ESOC 2021 | Future research needs for intracerebral hemorrhage

Valeria Caso, MD, PhD, FESO, Santa Maria della Misericordia Hospital, University of Perugia, Perugia, Italy, highlights the research needs in the stroke field, particularly for intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). Prof. Caso believes that the progression seen in ischemic stroke over the last decades can be replicated in ICH. Patients with stroke tend to live more than 20 to 30 years with stroke sequelae; therefore, Prof. Caso also stresses the importance of directing resources towards improving rehabilitation in these patients. Given the enormous potential of artificial intelligence and its existing involvement in other fields, it may be utilized to improve rehabilitation in patients with stroke. This interview took place at the European Stroke Organisation Conference (ESOC), 2021.
