AAN 2021 | BonTriage: an AI tool to conquer headache

Robert Cowan, MD, FAAN, Stanford University School of Medicine, Stanford, CA, discusses the BonTriage program, a healthcare software system intended to offer patient assessment for chronic headaches and migraines. BonTriage has developed a detailed, online questionnaire for a patient to complete before going to the office that generates an editable narrative report, helping the physician collect an accurate and detailed headache history. Additionally, this sophisticated artificial intelligence (AI) tool has an app, BonTriage Headache Compass, that monitors the patient’s sleep, exercise, eating patterns, medication use, and suspected triggers, like weather change, stress to improve the management of migraines and other headaches. This interview took place during the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) 2021 Annual Meeting.
