AAN 2022 | Analyzing the epidemiological features of functional movement disorders

The current understanding of the epidemiological features of functional movement disorders (FMD) is unclear. Sarah Lidstone, MD, PhD, Toronto Western Hospital and the University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, discusses a study aimed to describe and examine the relationship between age at onset, phenotype, and gender in FMD in a large meta-analysis of published and unpublished individual patient cases. Results indicated that FMD peaks in midlife with varying effects of gender on age at onset and phenotype. This interview took place at the American Academy of Neurology 2022 Congress in Seattle, WA.
