Bruce I. Ovbiagele, MD, MSc, FAAN, University of California, San Francisco, CA, shares un update on the TRANSCENDS scholar program (Training in Research for Academic Neurologists to Sustain Careers and Enhance the Numbers of Diverse Scholars), which provides mentoring and training in clinical research methodology for racial and ethnic minorities. The program has now entered its second funding cycle and has made several adaptations, including holding mentor-mentee workshops and opening up eligibility to individuals from any discipline in medicine. It is hoped that TRANSCENDS will develop the academic careers of passionate individuals belonging to an underrepresented in medicine group and train them to conduct high-quality neurologic research. This interview took place at the American Academy of Neurology 2022 Congress in Seattle, WA.
