EHC 2022 | Criteria for resistant and refractory migraine can identify migraine burden

Valeria Caponnetto, PhD, MSN, RN, University of L’Aquila, Avezzano, Italy, shares baseline data from an international real-life study on resistant and refractory migraine (REFINE). The study aims to evaluate if the European Headache Federation criteria for resistant and refractory migraine identify patients with more severe migraine burden. The investigators performed an observational, multi-center, international study to compare baseline characteristics, comorbidities, and PROMs of non-resistant and non-refractory migraine, resistant and refractory individuals in the REFINE study. Preliminary data shows that the criteria can distinguish patients with a high migraine burden. This interview took place at the 16th European Headache Congress (EHC) in Vienna, Austria.
