CONy 2020 | Inequality in the workplace impacts everyone involved

Tali Sharot, MA, PhD, University College London, London, UK, discusses her research investigating the effects of inequality in the workplace. In a situation where all participants contributed the same but were paid different amounts, there was an overall negative effect on motivation. When working in a group of mixed wages, all members of the group had reduced motivation in comparison to groups in which everyone was paid the same. Therefore, although there are different factors, inequality ultimately hurts everyone involved. This interview took place during the Virtual World Congress on Controversies in Neurology (CONy) 2020.
