CONy 2020 | Deep brain stimulation for dystonia

Keyoumars Ashkan, MB BCh, MD, MRCP, FRCS, FRCP, FRCPS, FRCPath, FRCS, King’s College London, London, UK, discusses the benefits of deep brain stimulation (DBS) to treat movement disorders other than Parkinson’s disease. For example, patients with dystonia and essential tremor benefit from DBS as well. Dystonia following a stroke is uncommon but recognized and it is important that clinicians are aware of advanced effective treatments like DBS. This interview took place during the Virtual World Congress on Controversies in Neurology (CONy) 2020.
