Raquel Gil-Gouveia, MD, PhD, Hospital da Luz, Lisbon, Portugal, discusses a study investigating changes in the functional connectivity of the sensorimotor-insular network during spontaneous migraine attacks. Eleven patients experiencing untreated episodic migraines underwent functional brain imaging both during and outside of migraines. Functional connectivity was found to be decreased during the attack. The longer the attack, the more decrease in connectivity there was. This interview took place during the European Academy of Neurology 2021 congress.
