WCN 2021 | The future of stroke imaging: better availability of the current tools

Marc Fisher, MD, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, MA, discusses the future of stroke imaging, including modalities to better distinguish ischemic core and penumbra; however, these strategies won’t be clinically available soon. Therefore, the focus should be on using the currently available tools in a more widespread manner. Dr Fisher encourages stroke centers to include computed tomography (CT) perfusion and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) perfusion. The use of stroke imaging techniques at smaller centers and stroke ambulances are also discussed. This interview took place during the XXV World Congress of Neurology.
