MDS 2022 | Validity of the improved version of the Fragile X-associated Tremor Ataxia Syndrome Rating Scale

Analyses of the first version of the Fragile X-associated Tremor Ataxia Syndrome Rating Scale (FXTAS-RS) showed weaknesses needing revision. Michelle Tosin, PhD, MSN, RN, Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, IL, discusses a study that validated the improved version of the FXTAS-RS for motor signs assessment. Rounds of cognitive pretesting interviews were conducted with movement disorders specialists and patients with FXTAS to determine whether the improved version of the FXTAS-RS was understandable, comprehensive, and relevant to capture the FXTAS motor signs. After the second round, no further adjustments were required. This interview took place at the 2022 International Congress of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders in Madrid, Spain.
