Rodolfo Savica, MD, PhD, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, provides an overview of ongoing management strategies for various tauopathies. There are, unfortunately, no specific medications to treat the condition, and current treatment therapies only target the symptoms. Previous trials assessing levodopa have failed to yield significant results, and deep brain stimulation (DBS) has shown promising outcomes in treating severe dystonia. Prof. Savica subsequently highlights the need to improve the quality of life in patients. This interview took place at the 2022 International Congress of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders in Madrid, Spain.
