CONy 2020 | The relationship between epilepsy and depression

Martin Brodie, MD, University of Glasgow, Glasgow, UK, discusses the prevalence of depression in epilepsy. Both disorders have overlapping mechanisms and some epileptic drugs are also used to treat depression. However, some antidepressants can reduce the threshold of seizures. Therefore, it could worsen symptoms for some epileptic patients. This interview took place during the Virtual World Congress on Controversies in Neurology (CONy) 2020.
