AAN 2022 | The American Brain Foundation: funding & supporting innovative investigations

Jane Ransom, American Brain Foundation, Minneapolis, MN, discusses the initiatives developed by the American Brain Foundation to help fund research for brain diseases. There are many challenges when acquiring public funding for research and establishing a reputation as a lifelong researcher without a track record. Therefore, the American Brain Foundation is giving funding to the best researchers on a global level to conduct an innovative two-year project. This has helped these individuals establish a research career – with 86% of these individuals progressing to receiving grants from the National Institutes of Health in the US. This interview took place at the American Academy of Neurology 2022 Congress in Seattle, WA.
