CONy 2022 | Stroke controversies at CONy 2022

Ashfaq Shuaib, MD, FRCPC, FAHA, University of Alberta Stroke Program, Alberta, Canada, gives an overview of recent topics of debate in the field of stroke prevention, management and recovery. Despite their increased cost, technologically advanced screening techniques such as CT angiography (CTA) represent novel prevention methods that may supersede ultrasound. The length of monitoring atrial fibrillation in stroke patients is also an important consideration in successfully preventing strokes in patients. Dr Shuaib additionally discusses the advantages of minimally invasive procedures to treat brain hemorrhage, the ethics of managing patients who have a bad prognosis, as well as brain stimulation during rehabilitation. This interview was conducted during the 2022 World Congress on Controversies in Neurology (CONy) meeting.
