Gillian Mead, MA, MB BChir, MD, MRCP, FRCP (Edin), FESO, The University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, UK, comments on the accuracy of stroke prognostic scales. Whilst various prognostic scales exist and take into account different factors such as stroke severity and age, they may not necessarily be an accurate predictor of survival. Frailty is often excluded, despite a link between increased frailty in patients and worse outcomes after a severe stroke. Incorporating frailty in prognostic scales may hence improve their accuracy. This interview was conducted during the 2022 World Congress on Controversies in Neurology (CONy) meeting.
