EAN 2021 | Palliative care in neurology is not just for end of life

David Oliver, BSc, FRCP, FRCGP, University of Kent, Kent, UK, discusses the changing outlook of palliative care for patients with neurological diseases. Palliative care is important for neurological patients and their families throughout their care and should not be seen only as end-of-life support. A number of large-scale studies have demonstrated the benefits of a multidisciplinary team working for patient’s symptoms and quality of life. This approach of sharing information and incorporating palliative care services should be implemented more in years to come. This interview took place during the European Academy of Neurology 2021 congress.
