WSC 2022 | The Global Consortium of Stroke Rehabilitation

Dorcas Gandhi, MPT, Christian Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana, Punjab, India, introduces the newly established Global Consortium of Stroke Rehabilitation. One of the major goals of the consortium is to develop context- and region-specific clinical practice guidelines, appropriate for use in low- and middle-income countries. Much of the evidence generated in high income settings related to rehabilitation is not applicable to low-income settings, due to resource or cultural differences. Given the challenges in developing and implementing effective stroke rehabilitation services, there is a substantial unmet need in low- and middle-income countries. Members of the consortium are conducting a systematic review, looking at clinical practice guidelines from across the globe, to identify opportunities for rapid uptake of evidence-based practice. This interview took place at the World Stroke Congress 2022 in Singapore.
